Susan Chi, PhD

Licensed clinical psychologist: California (PSY 33145) and New York (PSY 025715).

Dr. Chi received a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Graduate Center of The City University of New York and a B.S. in Biology from the University of California at Los Angeles. In between these two degrees, she obtained a M.A. in Creative Writing from The City College of New York and worked as an editor of a NYC literary journal.

Dr. Chi completed her pre-doctoral internship in neuropsychology at the James J. Peters (Bronx) VA in NYC. She trained to detect and treat the many effects of trauma on our brains, behaviors, and close relationships.

Dr. Chi completed her postdoctoral residency at Framework Associates, a social-justice oriented mental health clinic in LA.

Throughout her training as a clinical psychologist and research scientist, she has worked with culturally and ethnically diverse patients and research participants across medical and community settings, including NYU Langone Health, NYU Winthrop Hospital, Einstein Medical School, Brooklyn College Student Counseling Center, and Queens Community Personal Counseling Center. 

Dr. Chi’s research career in biology and psychology has spanned several institutions, including The Scripps Research Institute, Columbia University and Medical Center, Einstein Medical School, and the City University of New York. She has also taught college-level psychology and statistics courses at City University of New York-Brooklyn College and -Queens College.

Dr. Chi was most recently affiliated with the University of California at San Francisco, as Director of Metacognitive Content Development and Research for gritX.org, a web and app-based mental health intervention platform for teens and young adults. Dr. Chi is a mentor to undergraduates at UCLA through the UCLA Alumni Association.
