Couples Therapy
Contrary to popular belief, we do not come into this world alone. Infants depend entirely on their primary attachment figures for love, care, and security to survive. In adult love relationships, we rely on secure attachment bonds with our partner(s) to brave life’s curveballs, take on exciting challenges, and create profound meaning out of our existence.
For some of us, childhood presented adversities that prevented the development of a secure bond with our parents, leaving us vulnerable to unhealthy relationship patterns in adulthood. Also, factors like infidelity, sexual problems, financial stress, and a history of trauma, abuse, or mental illness can significantly strain relationships even in relationships previously held together by healthy attachment bonds. Fortunately, human relationships have a tremendous capacity to reset, heal, and thrive once more, especially if we set our intentions on repair and growth.
I help couples in all stages of their relationship and who engage in all types of relationship frameworks. My treatment approach is founded in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for High-Conflict Couples. I work with partners to identify and redress painful negative cycles, learn and apply emotion regulation and healthy communication skills, increase the capacity for connection and attunement, and develop secure emotional and sexual attachment bonds.
ADHD Assessment & Coaching
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects approximately 5% of adults. ADHD is associated with executive dysfunction, including inattention, impulsivity, hyperactivity, problems with planning, organization, timeliness, and emotional dysregulation. For adults, these cognitive weaknesses can interfere with academic progress, career success, and relationships with family, friends, and romantic partners. It’s hard to excel at work or be fully present with loved ones when you constantly feel overwhelmed, distracted, and behind.
For teenagers, high school is when optimal academic and social functioning becomes dependent on a young person’s ability to be self-organized, self-driven, on top of deadlines, and responsive to social cues. Often times, young people with ADHD are slower to develop these skills and may damaging self-judgments about their intelligence, likability, and future potential.
Take charge of your ADHD now by getting an accurate cognitive assessment of your strengths and weaknesses and learning how to accomplish your goals by using strategies that lean on your strengths, including your “ADHD superpowers”. I provide brief and complex assessments for teenagers (16 and older) and adults. I also provide treatment for ADHD either through psychotherapy or ADHD coaching.
